binding off
USAGE
To bind off means to cut the yarn and secure it so that it doesn't come loose easily. Often, the leftover yarn piece, or tail, will be used to sew the piece to other pieces. The pattern might suggest the amount of yarn to leave so that it can be used for sewing. If not, six inches is a good amount in general.
STEPS
1
Cut the yarn leaving the amount of yarn specified in the pattern. Often, the tail of yarn left over will be used to sew the piece to another piece. If no length is specified, approximately four inches works well.
2
Make a slip stitch and pull the yarn all the way through.
